Overview of Living Costs
Malaysia is widely known as one of the most affordable study destinations for international students compared to Western countries. On average, a student needs between RM 1,500 to RM 2,500 (approx. $350 - $600 USD) per month to cover basic living expenses, depending on lifestyle.

- Meal at a local restaurant (Mamak/Hawker): RM 10 - RM 20.
- Meal at a mid-range restaurant or fast food: RM 20 - RM 40.
- Monthly groceries (if cooking): RM 400 - RM 700.
3. Transportation
Malaysia boasts an excellent public transportation network, especially in Kuala Lumpur (LRT, MRT, Monorail).

5. Health Insurance and Medical Expenses
- International students are required to purchase medical insurance through EMGS, which costs around RM 400 - RM 800 annually. This covers treatment in approved clinics and hospitals.
Budget Tip: You can significantly reduce costs by sharing accommodation, using public transport, and cooking at home instead of dining out daily.
